Spring is the best time to visit Death Valley because of the beautiful weather and wildflowers. You should book early if you want to visit during this season as campsites can fill quickly.
Winter and fall are great times to visit Death Valley as crowds and temperature tend to decrease. The fall brings warm temperatures and clear skies. Winter can bring cooler days. However, our January visit was very fortunate.

It is important to note that the summer heat can make it difficult for many visitors to the park. Because of this, the parks are less accessible and the programs and guides are more limited.
How to get to Death Valley
Las Vegas McCarran Airport is the closest airport to Death Valley. It is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Los Angeles. However, it is worth driving the 5 hour distance from Los Angeles.
You will need a car to get around the park. There are no shuttle services. A high-powered vehicle with four-wheel drive is recommended due to the often-precarious roads.

The Oasis consists of the elegant Inn in Death Valley and the more family-oriented Ranch at Death Valley. It is a beautiful spot in the middle a desert landscape. The Inn at Death Valley was our choice for a relaxing place to unwind after a long day of exploring the park. It has four diamonds.
The property has been renovated and features beautiful rooms, a stunning spring-fed tiled swimming pool, great service, as well as beautifully designed rooms. Book an additional day if you have the time to relax around this beautiful resort. I couldn’t wait to return!

Camping is an option if you are looking for something more rustic. The most popular campgrounds are Furnace Creek Campground and Wildrose Campground.

These sites may be open or closed depending on weather conditions and road conditions. Before you leave, be sure to verify if there are any restrictions.
- Zabriskie Point
Zabriskie Point is a great spot to go if you are near Furnace Creek. It offers a spectacular view of the Badlands and excellent hiking. From the northeast you’ll see Manly Beacon. Just to the right you’ll see the Red Cathedral cliffs. To the south, you’ll see the multicolored mountains behind Artist’s Palette.
